Ceramic (99.5% Alumina Al2O3) hexagon bolts are perfect for extreme applications where exceptional heat resistance, electrical insulation and chemical resistance are required.

Key features of Ceramic hexagon bolts include:

  • Ceramic made from 99.5% high-purity alumina.
  • Usable continually at 1,500°C.
  • Excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, and electrical insulation.
  • Special features such as ventilation holes and cleanroom washing available.

See below for more detailed information about ceramic alumina hexagon bolts:

Material: Ceramic alumina hexagon bolts are primarily manufactured from alumina ceramic, which is a polycrystalline material with high hardness and strength. Alumina ceramics have exceptional wear resistance, high temperature tolerance (up to 1,500°C) and chemical stability.

Manufactured to DIN 933: All hexagon bolts or set screws available through High Performance Polymer are manufactured to DIN 933 standards, ensuring standardisation across the range.

High Temperature Resistance: Alumina ceramic exhibits excellent resistance to high temperatures (up to 1,500°C continuous). It can withstand extreme heat without significant deformation or loss of mechanical properties. This makes ceramic alumina hexagon bolts suitable for applications in high-temperature environments, such as satellites, vacuum furnaces and within the Oil and Gas industry.

Exceptional Hardness: Alumina ceramic is known for its high hardness, ranking just below diamond on the Mohs scale. Ceramic alumina hexagon bolts offer exceptional resistance to abrasion, wear, and surface damage. This makes them ideal for applications where components are subjected to friction or abrasive forces.

Corrosion Resistance: Alumina ceramic is highly resistant to corrosion and chemical attack. It can withstand exposure to various acids, alkalis, and corrosive substances without degradation. Ceramic alumina hexagon bolts are commonly used in corrosive environments or industries where chemical resistance is essential, such as chemical processing plants.

Electrical Insulation: Alumina ceramic is an excellent electrical insulator. Ceramic alumina hexagon bolts do not conduct electricity, making them suitable for applications where electrical insulation is necessary, such as in electronic devices or high-voltage equipment.

Lightweight: Compared to metallic bolts, ceramic alumina hexagon bolts are lightweight. This property is advantageous in applications where weight reduction is a priority, such as aerospace or automotive industries, where minimizing the overall weight of the components is crucial for fuel efficiency and performance.

Specialized Applications: Ceramic alumina hexagon bolts are design for applications in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, chemical processing, and high-temperature equipment. They are commonly used in environments where their unique combination of properties, including high temperature resistance, hardness, corrosion resistance, and electrical insulation, is advantageous.

Ceramic Key Properties

  • Corrosion Resistance: Provides excellent protection against rust, oxidation, and environmental degradation, making them suitable for use in harsh or corrosive environments.

Chemical Inertness: It is resistant to most acids, alkalis, and other corrosive substances, ensuring durability in harsh chemical environments.

Density: The density of 99.5% Alumina is approximately **3.90–3.95 g/cm³**, giving it a robust and dense structure.

Temperature Stability: Alumina conducts heat effectively compared to other ceramics, though it is lower than metals. Alumina withstands extreme temperatures, with a melting point of approximately 2,050°C.

  • Optical Transparency: Thin sections of high-purity alumina can be optically transparent, which is useful in specific optical and laser applications.

Electrical Insulation: It is an excellent electrical insulator, even at elevated temperatures.

Biocompatibility: Alumina is biologically inert and safe for medical applications such as implants and prosthetics.

Durability: Alumina is one of the hardest ceramic materials, making it highly wear-resistant and suitable for abrasive environments.

  • Low Dielectric Loss: It has a low dielectric loss, making it suitable for high-frequency electrical applications.

High Dielectric Strength: Provides excellent dielectric strength, supporting applications requiring insulating properties under high voltages.

Strength: It offers high compressive strength and good flexural strength.

Low Thermal Expansion: Alumina has relatively low thermal expansion, contributing to dimensional stability under temperature variations.
